Exploring Portugal

Following a short stint in Vietnam, my first real foray into the world of teaching was in Portugal, a country I'd never even thought about visiting much less actually living in. But, as Spain was not forthcoming, I took the only thing that was on offer. I accepted a job in Braga, a city in the north of the country.

Portugal turned out to be stunningly beautiful, and in the nine months I lived there, I explored as much of the country as I could. From February onwards, I was working six days a week, which meant that I never had the time to visit the less accessible inland provinces. Nonetheless, I managed to see quite a few places, going from the northern border down as far as Lisbon and back again.
